Chariot in the Sky

Katie Kenney

Every excuse for why

each star sign is misaligned

for each story of sky to be dragged down

and blamed for each intangible tragedy

was the sky not the same

when glaciers crashed craters along

moonlit shores of far off time

where thieves and revelers charted

their own lit course of bright unknown

blaming each old relic of connected dots

weighted by wars waged by fabled

fools and green eyed goddesses

born of revenge, its deep gouge, sick with betrayal,

drunk on all jealousy, love & fear,

each story of night, how it always will end

with lessons of how our own fates are sealed.
