Equations in E Flat: Your Lie in April, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Your Name

Paola de Sales Lee

(A Harmonic Divergence of Parallel Fates)

In the silence between heartbeats,

I drew parabolas around our wrists—

your pulse a metronome,

mine, a glitch in the score.

April played a minor chord.

You were light refracted through falling sakura,

notes dancing like flame forms

on the edges of a brother’s promise.

Tethered by comet trails and cursed timelines,

I solved for x in us

only to find

the graph never intersected.

Kimi no Na wa?

A question and a theorem.

I named you infinity,

but even in quantum space,

you remained unreachable.

Each time I tried to integrate our moments,

I failed—

not from error,

but because the limits never existed.

And so I buried the function—

like a piano key gone mute,

like a blade stilled in twilight,

like a name forgotten

before it was ever known.
