The Hungry Black Hole
Vitoria Ramos
out
in
space.
far beyond
our solar system
lives a hungry black hole.
at the dawn of everything
tiny bites of darkness feasted
upon one another. growing larger
with each taste. a billion tiny bites
became a massive mouth. its throat
an endless well bending the fabric of space.
nothing can escape its mighty appetite. it wanders
the vast universe in search of meals. slurping up nebulous
noodles. ripping the fiery flesh of stars. drinking the ocean salt
of planets. crushing moons to sprinkles. alien satellites and space vessels
that dare to tempt are swallowed whole. every million light years it crosses
paths with another of its kind. stellar corpses with a remembrance of fullness.
a looming hunger for the familiar. waxing towards eternity. gnawing and devouring.
morphing into one. black spinning on a cosmic wheel. Carving endless depths from which
light can never escape. A rising hungry chaos that will endure until the death day of the universe.
